Toni Boucher Position on Crime and Law Enforcement

People do not feel safe in our state. Every time you turn on the news, there’s a new story about crime, car break-ins, and violence.

Multiple bills approved in Hartford have tied the hands of law enforcement and had a chilling effect on the ability to police in our state.

I will make sure Connecticut focuses on reviewing and reforming our laws to achieve a safer Connecticut.

We must do more to improve crime response and support law enforcement. We also must address the root causes of crime, and focus on issues related to trauma, education and jobs to deter young people from going down a path that leads to crime.

The CT Democrats’ economy is not working for far too many families and has left many individuals struggling. We must work to spark opportunity in our state, enhance workforce development, and create jobs to help all people obtain stability and safety and deter young people from ever turning to crime in the first place.

We also need to ensure our laws hold individuals accountable for their actions, give law enforcement the tools they need to do their jobs and protect all people, and truly address the root causes of crime.

Everyone deserves to live in a state where they feel safe. That is my ultimate goal.
