CT Independent Party endorses Toni Boucher for State Senate

September 9, 2022

Boucher pledges to “work tirelessly” for Independents and all voters to “be your voice.”

Connecticut’s Independent Party has endorsed Toni Boucher for the 26th District’s State Senate seat, which includes Wilton, Westport, Weston, Redding and parts of Ridgefield, New Canaan, Darien and Stamford.

“Receiving the Connecticut Independent Party’s endorsement is humbling and gratifying,” Boucher said. “I am a listener, a coalition-builder and a problem-solver. I am also a mother, a grandmother, and someone with extensive private sector experience. I love public service, helping others and making a positive difference in people’s lives.  If Independent, Democrat, Republican and unaffiliated voters put their faith in me again, I will work tirelessly for them as their state senator. I will be your voice.”

Boucher served as 26th District State Senator from 2008 to 2019 and as a State Representative from 1997 to 2008.  She has served as a State Board of Education member, a local Board of Education chair, and a local Selectman.

Boucher said her top issues include:

  1. protecting local control regarding residential property rights.
  2. protect and promote local control of education and parental involvement in our schools.
  3. making Connecticut more affordable through tax relief
  4. making Connecticut’s communities safer.

Her numerous public service awards include twice being named “Environmental Champion” by the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters and being named “Children’s Champion” by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance on seven different occasions.

Boucher is a pro-choice, socially moderate fiscal conservative who supports gay rights. She has a long record of supporting education and transporting infrastructure investments.

“As a state legislator, I built strong relationships throughout our area communities with so many caring, generous, wonderful people,” Boucher said. “I also built a strong record of bipartisan legislative policy accomplishments which have helped to improve the quality of life for people of all ages across Connecticut.”

Boucher encouraged voters of all parties as well as unaffiliated voters to visit www.ToniBoucher.com today for more information about her campaign and to learn about volunteer opportunities. Election Day is Nov. 8.
